What’s the dress code? Dress code is formal. Think suit, tie, dress, heels, whatever you fancy but dress to impress.
What’s the weather in Canberra like? In May Canberra typically averages 4-16’c. It can get foggy in the mornings and frosty at night. You’ll want layers, scarfs, jackets, closed shoes.
What about kids? We love all our little family members but we have decided that apart from the wedding party members, this will be an adults only event. We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience caused but we’re sure you’ll have a fun night.
We want to continue celebrating after the reception, what should we do? You definitely should, Canberra has plenty to offer at night. The buses will drop you back at Barton around 12:00 AM. You can stay in Barton and enjoy the bars Ostani and X, or you could head to the city. Barton is only a 5-minute Uber from the city where you’ll find so many more bar and night club options (see below or ask us for a recommendation).
We’re staying for a couple extra days, what would you recommend? We LOVE to hear that. We have fallen in love with Canberra since moving here and have so much to recommend. Autumn is also the most beautiful time in Canberra, hands-down. It may be cool, but the falling temperatures give way to spectacular autumn leaves.

Hiking & Sight Seeing: Canberra is the best of city-meets-country! You get the best bars and food from the city and the beautiful sights of the country. More than half of the ACT is protected as nature reserve, so the beauty on offer is right on our doorstep. Just 20 minutes from Barton you’ll discover rivers, lookouts, waterfalls, gorges and as the weather gets cooler snow-capped mountains. Canberra’s national parks were unfortunately affected by the bushfires, but it has bounced back quickly and there is still a lot of beauty to go and see. Check out some of popular hiking spots and outlooks here. Some of our favourites are Red Hill, Mt Ainslie & Namadgi national park.
